Zan Parr Nic's Story "Nic" was bred and raised by Carol Rose to be a top level performance horse. Late in his yearling year he was purchased by The BS Syndicate (Bishop-Schmersal) and put into training with Craig Schmersal. Shortly thereafter he developed White Line Disease and while recovering, he got behind schedule for a top level limited age reining competitor. Nic was shown once by Brent Naylor, under the guidance of Schmersal, earning both AQHA Open Reining Points and NRHA Money. Upon purchasing him at the 2002 NRHA Futurity, Dale & Chris Cox took Nic to Minnesota where he started his breeding career by covering several NRHA Money Earning and Producing mares. After his breeding duties were finished, Nic went to Wisconsin where, after just 3 weeks with Jeff Kasten, he placed 2nd at the Reichert Reinin' Celebration Bronze Trophy Open Class his first time out in 2003. Jeff and Nic placed 6th at the NRHA Central Affiliate Championships Open Finals & he was only in training for 60 days! In late 2003 Nic moved to Marietta, OK just a few miles north of his birthplace. With everything involved in selling, moving across country and building a new ranch he just never got around to finding a new trainer in 2004. Despite this, Nic and Chris succeeded in earning his first AQHA Amateur Points and NRHA Non Pro Money - sometimes on the same day they live covered mares. During the winter of 2004/5 Nic met his new friend, Jason Grimshow, and returned to the Open show ring earning more AQHA Points. After coming home for the 2005 breeding season Chris & Nic continued to cover mares and show successfully in AQHA and NRHA competitions. In April of 2005 they decided to try their hand at a NRCHAReined Cowhorse event and eventually ended up with the 2005 SRCHA Year End High Point Green Rider Title - when neither of them had even worked a cow 2 weeks prior to their first show! Thank you to Don Murphy who put up with this pair of Cowhorse wanna be's! Nic has not been ridden since 2006 when Chris's health prevented her from continuing to show. He was riding better than ever when he was last rode and has never been shown hard or really "asked" in the ring. Nic has earned NRHA Money or AQHA Points with every rider to ever show him and had earned NRHA Money every year he was shown, from 2002-5. He is a very gentle stallion who is easy to handle and super respectful in the breeding shed whether he's teasing a shy maiden mare, covering the old grey mare with a foal at side or being collected off the phantom for a high quality semen shippment. We have come to love this horse with all our hearts, but now need to place him in a new home due to changes in our own lives.
Nic's first foals were out of Quarter and Paint Reining Money Earners, Producers and daughters of the same, as well as NRHA Trophy winners. We couldn't be prouder of what he has produced so far, and are really looking forward to the future with this awesome young horse.
Nic's Show Record Nic has not been shown since 2006 due to owners health problems. He is therefor currently being offered for sale.
